Screen Shot 2015-05-01 at 11.46.56 AMOctober 30, 2014 – El Segundo, CA, USA – Entering his 30th season as the Los Angeles Lakers athletic trainer, Gary Vitti is widely recognized as one of the best practitioners of his respective field. Vitti, who monitors the health of the club throughout the season using state-of-the-art methods in conditioning, dieting, stretching and testing, is the longest tenured athletic trainer in Lakers history with 31 years of service. He is responsible for the care, prevention and treatment of injuries to Lakers players, assuring the coaching staff that each athlete is in the best possible condition from October through April, May, or, in the event of a championship run, June. Yet just because the season ends doesn’t mean Vitti is off the clock. His job typically continues throughout the months of July, August and September as he spends a portion of his summer working with players during the off-season.

When it comes to the testing of Lakers players, Vitti is the staunchest of supporters for InBody Body Composition Analyzers. “I can’t get the best out of our players unless I have the best equipment,” Vitti said. “In terms of trying to determine a player’s physiological makeup, it doesn’t get any better than the InBody. We post all of the InBody player body composition information within our training facility, which promotes healthy competition between teammates and motivates them to work a little bit harder. We wouldn’t be able to get this detailed information without the InBody. It has drastically changed the way we’ve done things here with the Los Angeles Lakers. We want our players to possess as much lean body mass as we can, and through the InBody we can accurately test that at any time. It has been the greatest of assets to our strength and conditioning program.”
